Summary:
I’ve owned numerous fairway woods since started playing golf several years ago. But non of them have been my “Bread & Butter” club. Especially on the day my driver is off or on tight fairway situations. I was fortunate to find a pair of demo G5 3 and 5 wood on sale. So I tested them. G5 head size is perfect, looks great and gives me confidence at address. I had both of them reshafted with Graphite Design Tour AD Quattrotech and took them out on course for the 1st time. They were very impressive. I used the 3 wood at the T-Box on almost every hole. It was very “HOT” of the tee around 240+ yards. Control was superb. On the last hole PAR 5 my distance was sround 260 yards, further than all my friends who used their drivers!!!Finally I’ve found my “Bread & Butter” club.

Summary:
The G5 3 wood, 15 degree loft with prolaunch shaft…….a great, solid club to have in the bag. Use this when the driver gets quirky and get decent distances with it (average about 250yds). The prolaunch shaft gives a high ball flight which is fine, great off the tee, off the fairway perhaps needs to be a ‘fluffy’ lie really as quite a deep face. Only one issue with this club is in the setting up, will quite regularly send this ball right(not a slice/fade) if dont take the time to really set the head up in the correct direction, maybe this is me or maybe the head is slightly distracting, either way, if you do take the time to set up correctly, you wont be dissappointed. Im not able to work a ball so cant comment on the clubs ability or otherwise to do this. Best results off the tee are with an easy swing and a low tee( 1/4″). Hope this proves helpful, would have had 5 stars but for the head set up issue

Summary:
Very solid line of woods. It has Ping quality construction. Forgiving, easy to hit off the tee and off the ground. The 455 steel is springy and the ball jumps off the face. I previously had the Cobra SS and SZ offset woods and I wanted to move onto nonoffset models. The G5′s were the right choice. The headsize gives me alot of confidence at address. I do agree with the previous reviewer that the alignment of top and bottom lines is a bit awkward. This doesnt affect the performance. Highly recommend these woods to all range of players.

Customer Service:
Ping responds quickly to emails. Their club repair service is slow and overpriced.

Cobra SZ/SS (very nice), Ping Rapture (bulky, hard to hit off the ground), Cally X, Big Bertha 2006

Continuing a recent trend, Callaway fuses a carbon composite crown to a stainless-steel body, sole and clubface. The light crown reinforces head stability by redistributing extra weight around the perimeter. The Draw version reins in your slice if you have one, while Neutral helps straighten out your right-to-lefties.
The club’s Energy Transfer Frame stiffens the area behind the flexible face. This construction reduces crown and sole deformation at impact so more energy is directed into the ball, giving you better response over a wider area.
The unconventional head geometry shifts weight lower and farther away from the face. The payoff: shots that get up easier and higher. Once aloft, the ball carries on a boring, iron-like flight. Wide-soled CPR 3 Woods (not pictured) are a sensible option to replace fairway woods.
